Can I touch your hair?!?

I originally saw this video on Holistic Loc's, and loved it instantly. I have gotten some of these questions. And yes, folks do just come up and just start touching my hair! Thank you Chescalocs for creating this video.

Plaits!

I went to the salon this weekend. O my goodness... what a treat! I have not been to a hair salon on almost two years. I usually just do my own hair to save money and time. At the salon, I ended up getting my hair braided into plaits (aka - braids). The loctician I saw was Roy from follicles, in Oakland, CA. He washed and conditioned my hair, and then braided it into sections.

When ever I do this style, my hair is always kind of limp. So I love how my hair came out. It has a lot of volume and great curl. I love it!

Six Flags Denied!!!

Sadly enough, my family as supported Six Flags by buying season passes two years in a row. But today, I read a post about Six Flags on a cool blog called Loc Rocker, that there is actual discrimination happening in the company against people with dreadlocks. Six Flags will not hire people with dreadloc's! I am appalled by this, and will not spend money with their park, until they have changed their policies. I plan to write a letter to them expressing my disappointment. And to let them know that this form or discrimination is unacceptable and they have lost a customer because of it. Check out the video below, that describes the incident that brought this news to light.

Giveaway!!! Gold and Black Cleopatra style earrings!

So the question is (and this has nothing to do with me... lol), what do you think is the difference between being really confident and just plain arrogant? The main point of this site, and a lot of other like minded blog sites is to help boost confidence and pride. But what about those folks that go a little over aboard and think that they are god's gift to this planet. For this contest, please write in and tell us your most remember-able experience with a guy or girl, where they where just so arrogant and obnoxious that it made you want to turn the other way and just laugh. The most interesting, funny and detailed story wins! This contest ends in on April 30th at 10 pm. The prize is a pair of beautiful (brand new and still in package) Gold and black Cleopatra style earrings. Good luck everyone!

This doll is called Imani by Linda Murray. I love the details, down to the cute ponytails. The other dolls of the collection are called Jada and Joshua.

Lance Gross revisited

Here is a little something to make your Monday a little easier.... ;-). I know I already did a post on Lance, but goodness... lol. I just had to post more pic's of him again.

Loc Socks?!?

My hair is getting pretty long. To the point where regular large scarves do not cover my ends. Because of this, the bottom of my loc's are always exposed when I go to bed. This has caused a lot of thinning on the bottom.
As far as I know, the only other option is Loc Socks. And these things, from what I have seen are not exactly sexy bed time wear. I got a man and I want to keep him! Kidding y'all... lol. I am sure my husband would not mind if I wear the loc socks knowing that its good for my hair. But I would like to find something that doesn't look like I am wearing a big baggy sock on my head.

I did find one site that was put together nicely:  Dreadsockonline.com

I also believe that Lynjonta.com has loc socks, but their only store is temporally closed. But I saw this interesting loc shower cap (picture below), so I will be going back when they reopen their online store.

Cheaplocksocks.com seems to have a large selection, so I may check them out as well. A lot of their socks are priced at $7.00, but they don't cover the ends.

There's also, SocLocSoc.com

If any one has tried Loc Soc's from any brand, write in and let us know what you think of them, and if possible where you got yours. And if any one has found a way to keep their long loc's protected in another way, let us know your ideas and tips.

Confidence

C
onfidence is a funny thing. It often comes and goes like the sun and the rain. It's not seasonal, but it sure feels like a quick change in the weather. The way it comes and goes without notice or reason. Some times there is a burst of it, like the sunshine. Sometimes it just fades away. Often times it takes work, nurturing and care. But all that hard work is o' so worth it in the end. Because what you end up with is an amazing feeling of self pride, love and admiration for who you are inside and out. Love it, hold on to it and embrace it. Confidence.

What would you do??

What if you had a daughter with beautiful curly hair; and you always made it a point to teach her to be proud of her beautiful natural texture.

One day, your daughter goes to a relatives house and is told by the relative that they want to straighten your daughters hair. Your child is then told lies like "you will like it because it will be be easier to style your hair." Or "It will be easier to take care of your hair when its straight" or  "If its straight it will be easier when its time for a trim."

Your daughter, thinking its cool and something new... goes along with the bull being feed to her and comes home with straight hair.  You of course do not want to upset your child by reacting unfavorably, but is disappointed that the relative would be so shallow and thoughtless to tell your child that - any thing other than her natural hair is beautiful.  And to also put your child's hair through a damaging process of altering its natural state. Other than cussing out the relative in response to this act... lol. What would you do?!?

New blog design!

I liked the old design of the Naturally Beautiful Hair blog, but it was time for a change...

What do you think of the new design??

Butterfly card from Carols Daughter

Mothers Day is coming up, and Carol's Daughter put together a cute butterfly card generator. Minus all the ad's that come along with the email notice to your Mom, its a great idea. One way to send the card to your mom with out the ads is to send the card to yourself, get the link and email the link directly to your Mom. Check out the card from Jada Pinkett in the above picture.
