Ayd's Ang-ry Birds Party

(Daddy reports)

We held Ayd's birthday party on the same day as Singapore's birthday, quite simply because it was a public holiday and most of Ayd's closer buddies could make it.

Ayd wanted his party's theme to be Angry Birds, and as much I love playing the game, I must stress that I didn't have a hand in influencing his decision.

Erm, I did politely suggest though. :D

In any case, I knew his friends would love the Angry Birds theme as well as they were all too familiar with those flying coloured birds and thieving green pigs.

I, too, was enthusiastic about the theme, and promptly sat down and started plotting how we could adhere to the theme. Yes I know, siao on huh.

First up, the goodie bags!

I bought the coloured paper bags from Bras Basah, printed out the Angry Birds faces and stuck them on the bags. Quite simple stuff, especially since I had free labour in the form of 2 monkies.

And for an added touch, I made a dessert bowl out of a watermelon - carved out the insides and stuck the King Pig's face on it.

Now you have the entire gang, waiting to be called into action.

Next up, the decoration of the party area!

We also blew up balloons, and made Angry Birds out of them too.

And they were a hit with the kids as well, which some of them got as souvenirs after the party. :P

Of course, the pigs were not to be outdone too.

Somehow, I find the pigs to be more endearing than the birds. Maybe it's size-related.

Anyway, you can easily make your own Angry Birds balloons too! This wonderful party site has a Angry Birds template that you can download and print. Cool eh?

Okay, enough of birds & pigs. Because what's a party without guests right?

Soon, Ayd's friends started arriving... all in Angry Birds tees no less!

We only invited guests who had Angry Birds tees by the way.

I'm kidding! It just so happened that all of the kids had at least one Angry Birds tee. I say at least one because I know some of them have 3 or 4 tees! Erm, at least my monkies do.

Caged bird? Heh.

After the kids had their food, it was then time to kick off the Angry Birds games!

I had hidden golden eggs around the party area, and the kids were instructed to hunt for them.

And inside each golden egg, there was a piece of paper with a number scribbled on it. And the kids will be able to exchange that with a prize.

And to my amazement, all the eggs were found in record time! I should have hidden them in more secluded spots... but I was afraid that I would forget where I hid them if the kids weren't able to find them!

So anyway, we moved on to the next game - which was something less strenuous.

I made the kids stand in one line, and they were supposed to pass the hat while music is being played.

When the music stopped, the one who is wearing the hat will be out of the game.

And this will go on until the last one is standing.

Great fun game for the kids, even for the adults who were watching them.

And Ale too... who seemed that she wanted to join in the fun too.

Then it was time to cut the cake!

Well, cakeS to be exact since there were an assortment of what else, Angry Birds cupcakes.

Quite cute seeing all the kids dressed in Angry Birds tees, don't you think? :)

Time to attack the cakes!

Angry Birds eating Angry Birds???

I thought it was rather good that we got cupcakes instead of one whole large cake. At least the kids got to choose which Angry Bird cupcake they wanted, and it was a lot less messy since we didn't have to cut the cake.

And as a final bonus for Ayd, he and his friends adjourned to the pool for some splashing fun while we adults cleaned up the mess. Yes, the things parents do.

But I'm glad Ayd, and everyone else had loads of fun at the party. I certainly did have fun preparing the party stuff! Haha...

Thanks to everyone for your well-wishes, and once again, happy 5th birthday dear Ayd!
